Ladies Night Walk
The segment of ‘Ladies Night Walk: for Women by Women’ arose from the need of many women to explore the night in their city safely. We received numerous calls where women were hesitant to join a night walk primarily because they felt unsafe to move around in dimly lit spaces. There were several basic queries that many women participants raised: “How far was the parking area from the site of the walk?”, “Was the heritage complex properly guarded?” “Who would be conducting the walk?”. These questions alarmed our company to design a separate segment that met these very needs of the women.
The entire point of having a separate ladies night is to create a safe space for women to reclaim night, drop their inhibitions and actually enjoy the environment without feeling watched. It celebrates sisterhood. The objective is to create a more inclusive culture where women too feel they have the same right as men to enjoy city lights without being hounded by doubts and questions.
Prior to launching the segment, we conducted a brief survey asking women what they would like to do if the city night was safe for them to explore. The response we received was tremendous and humbling. The underlying thought of each woman remained the same – they wanted to explore city/heritage sites on foot with their girl tribe without feeling the constant sense of dread. It also made us introduce a double entry discount to encourage more women in pairs to come out and reclaim the city space.
We have conducted a number of walks under the same and are attaching the photos and feedback videos for your reference. The feedback videos are so bittersweet where women talk about the sense of community and belonging they felt on being attached to such an initiative. We feel it’s the start of a community movement and the sharing of this news is important with respect to women to know that there are such programs that are focused on them and they do not require men to go out at night.
